Call For Submission: Interweave Knits Winter 2015

Interweave Knits
Call for submission: Interweave Knits Winter 2015

Deadline: MARCH 3, 2014

To find out more and to download their submission form click here.

Excerpt from their submission call:

Dear Designers,

I’m looking for ideas for the next issue of Interweave Knits. I’m looking for garments, accessories, items for the home, and items for the whole family. I’m excited by rich stitch patterns, classic shapes, innovative con- structions, and thoughtful yarn choices. A Knits design is one that challenges and excites the knitter, but for which the pattern is efficient and practi- cal. A Knits design toes the line between traditional and contemporary; it makes sense in the real world but harkens back to other times, other styles, other cultures.

A Knits design is rich with interest, fun to knit, and smart. Each issue of Interweave Knits offers one cohesive collection of designs, organized around subtle themes. Consider the themes at bottom left as prompts; let them serve as a way to get thinking. More than anything, however, I want to see what you’re excited about. Please see the contributor guidelines for tips and specific requirements. I look forward to working with you!

Thank you, Lisa Shroyer, editor

Little Red, Where Are You?

So, remember that red mohair yarn I talked about making into socks awhile back? Well, I did start knitting socks with them, (which knitted up gorgously by the way), but in the process of working on the leg portion I got struck with another idea to turn them into a pair of leg warmers. Well, it so happened that a couple of knitting opportunities have arise and my leg warmers seem like a perfect fit for one of them. So my once mohair socks are now  a swatch with sketch design for leg warmers, currently on their way to being considered for a magazine. Crossing my fingers. Wish me luck.

Celebrate Good Times, Come On!

It is time to celebrate. I checked my emails last night and what did I find? Why this adorable note sent to me by the good people over at Sanguine Gryphon:

Michelle,
We are very interested in publishing your sock design, and I would like to have the opportunity to discuss the design process with you.

Please call when you can, xxx-xxx-xxxx.
Cheers,

Jamie

Sqeels of excitement along with lots of childish jumping around followed the reading of this email. My  first sock design accepted. I shall frame this email and I will love it and squeeze it and hug it and call it George.

I called dear beautiful Jamie who talked to me about the details of the project. Now I wait for the contract and yarn to arrive. *Liver Chick gets up from laptop and does a happy dance once around the room"

Oh, by the way, my sock design I submitted for Clotheshorse was rejected the very same day. Go figure!
