Fit for a Princess

There is a time in every young girl's life when she transforms from being a little tomboy to wanting to cover herself in all things pink and glittery. Yes, I am referring to the 'Princess stage' - where her room becomes the far away kingdom, her bunk bed the highest tower, and daddy becomes the knight that must climb the tower and awaken the princess with true love's kiss.

If there is a special princess in your life, why not surprise her with handmade gifts fit for her royal court?

Even Princesses Knit

So, Iw as in the grocery store the other day and stopped by my favorite part of the store- the magazine section. The adult in me wanted to look at Time magazine and Newsweek, but the kid in me reached for the Disney Princess magazine instead.

As I flipped through the brightly colored pages of games and crafts, I came upon a page that made me smile. It was a page with a simple game of cats playing with balls of yarn. The goal is to find which ball of yarn is the one that's attached to the scarf that Cinderella is knitting!

That's right, the princess that can scrub floors just as well as she can sweep a prince off his feet also knows a thing or two about wielding needles and yarn. This picture was just too cute not to share.

Now the question is, who do you think will be the lucky recipient of Cinderella's scarf?

(Hey, did you notice the crown tips on those knitting needles? I bet their real gold too. Now that's what I call royal knitting!)

I Can Hear The Bells

Well, its taken a long time for me, but I finally caught the bug. I've got royal wedding fever! It's surprising that I hadn't gotten into it earlier with almost every magazine talking about it. (of course, going to see Walt Disney Princesses On Ice may have had something to do with the sudden fever.) I've always been more of a Queen Elizabeth fan. Will and Kate have just taken a long time to grow on me.

Will I be watching the wedding on tv along with millions of other people around the world? Most likely not. It's not that I don't want to, but the moment I plan to watch some big event on television, something major happens in my life. Don't believe me. Here, I'll prove it. I really had planned on watching the 2008 summer Olympics.  I was even looking forward to hosting a few Olympic-themed parties during the event. I woke up from my coma the day after the opening ceremonies! And all the award shows that have happened so far this year? Either I was in the hospital or at the airport. Go figure. So, I'm not pressing my luck on being able to see any part of the wedding on tv the day of the event. Instead, I'll catch the highlights on YouTube.

But in  honor of the upcoming wedding, I do plan to make a pair of socks in celebration of this royal event. They will be elegant, soft, feminine and fit for a princess. I hope to have the pattern posted before wedding day.
