Black Friday Knitting

Black Friday is soon approaching.  Many people will be camping out in their cars the night before to get those doorbuster deals as soon as the mall doors opens. Others will be up until midnight to be the first to cash in on those online sales.

I've never been one to dive into the fray and fight the crowds. I get enough of that just trying to get a salted caramel hot chocolate from Starbucks on a Monday morning.

No 'one day sales' for me. Instead of busting down doors, I plan to do some stash busting instead. What better way to spend the busiest shopping day of the season then playing with yarn at home?

I've been going through a few patterns that are great stash busters. What's even better is that these patterns are all free!

Stashbuster Scarf by Sarah Anderson
This crocheted scarf is a wonderfully quick way to burn up those small balls of yarn from previous projects. This project also doubles as a last minute holiday gift.

Riot Shawl by Sandra Paul
Who can resist a good looking shawl, especially when you can reduce your stash of odds and ends at the same time? I adore this shawl and love the fringe. I may have to buy some more yarn just to have an excuse to knit this.

Hawaiian Flowers by Sarah London
I can really see making these flowers throughout the year and piecing them together to make a colorful blanket. All those lovely colors can easily chase away any winter blues.

Anyone else plan on spending Black Friday knee deep in yarn?

One Woman's Trash Will Always Be My Treasure

It's hard to believe that both Tom Cruise and Robert Pattinson are both single while I'm in a relationship. So unfair.

Although your ex's may have treated you both like trash, don't forget the million of women around the world who would gladly take their place by your side.

Ladies, let's show some love to these broken-hearted cuties and to your own cutie at home by knitting on of these manly scarves that may lead to warming more than just their neck if you play your cards right.

And to all my single ladies- get out there and turn on the charm. Robert and Tom won't stay single forever!

Stuffed

So, are you still rolling yourself out of bed after all that Thanksgiving food? Or are you still just recovering from your Turkey-induced coma?

Are you just now picking up your knitting project only to find it stained with cranberry sauce? Or your crochet hook still smells like pumpkin pie?

I hope that you all stuffed yourselves with enough good food to make your scale run and hide.

I stuffed myself to the point that I will just assume that elves came into my closet and shrunk my clothes while I was cooking the turkey. (That's my story and I'm sticking to it!)

As my Boy Toy and I still argue over wheather or not pumpkin pie is considered one serving of vegetables, I'll leave you with a couple of turkeys that managed to survive the cutting block:

Fit for a Princess

There is a time in every young girl's life when she transforms from being a little tomboy to wanting to cover herself in all things pink and glittery. Yes, I am referring to the 'Princess stage' - where her room becomes the far away kingdom, her bunk bed the highest tower, and daddy becomes the knight that must climb the tower and awaken the princess with true love's kiss.

If there is a special princess in your life, why not surprise her with handmade gifts fit for her royal court?

Check Your Boobs!

As you may know, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is a time to stand up for those who have fallen in the fight with cancer and continue in our race for a cure. No matter if you are a cancer survivor, lost a friend to cancer or have a loved one going through the struggles of fighting this disease, we all need to support each other. We need to show cancer that we will not back down, we will not run and we will not suffer in silence. We will fight with all the love, strength and courage we have.

Show your support for those who fight the good fight everyday. Make items to  donate to those at cancer treatment centers or to remind yourself of a loved one who fought to the end. Wear your pink with pride and remember to check your boobs!

They're Coming. . .

Yes, they're coming. And they're not leaving until you give them all your candy. . . or else!

Ghost by Jean Greenhowe

Yes ladies and gentlemen, it is almost that time of year again.

The stores have been reminding you for weeks already and as much as you want to ignore it,

soon Halloween will be upon us.

Monster Finger Chapstick Cozy by Karrie Weaver

Why not add a bit more to your Halloween decor this year besides plastic spiders and paper skulls?

Come on! You've knitted socks, crocheted blankets, made hats, sweaters and various other needlework goodies this year.

So don't tell me you're scared of knitting a few little ghost and goblins.

Pick up that hook and/or those knitting needles and create a few witching friends to help you scare the 'boo' out of some unsuspecting trick-or-treaters.

Let me know what ghoulish guest will be flying off your needles this Hallows Eve.
