On The Road

Living now in San Diego with most of our family in Arizona means lots of road trips. Almost every other weekend it seems we are on the road to Arizona for quick visits.

I'm slowing learning the art of road knitting. At first it was impossible for me to knit with having such bad motion sickness. But over time I have been able to find a combination of seat adjustment, ginger chews and music that allows me the pleasure of knitting in motion.

Now road trips are filled with productive work of knitting and sometimes even crochet.

Currently working on a men's scarf that will be called, "Straight, No Chaser", named after one of my favorite bands. This scarf has taken way long to knit then it should have. I'm hoping to finally get it done this coming week. The pattern is already written down. Just need to type it up and covert to a PDF for publishing.

I have a few other projects I brought with me for this road trip, but you'll have to wait for another posting to find out about those. :-)

New York Fashion Week Day 1: Fit To Be Tied

Well Day 1 of the Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week is now history.  Going through the images of today's shows a certain little something kept catching my eye. It was a bit unexpected of what I thought would be my first fashion post of the week, but I think when you see it, you'll understand.

So did you notice it? Did it make you stop and look the same way I did? No, not the suites. It's the ties that caught my attention. I love them. I'm not really a tie kind of girl, but I think the striping and the color combination is what got me. Here are a couple of offerings for you to work with- one knitted, the other crocheted.

Angelus Knit Tie by Joseph Lavy

Crocheted Casual Necktie by Pierrot Yarns

A couple of yarns to help get you started. While most people will be discussing the new spring colors for women, I think its nice to start off with something for the guys. This tie would make a wonderful holiday gift, so that special guy will be able to benefit with using the tie throughout the whole Spring season and hopefully beyond.

What new looks do you hope to see in man's fashion for Spring?
