So now that New York Fashion week is over, how do we carry on until the next fashion season? With a great handbag of course. The Spring 2014 season showed the comeback of the structured, handled purse. A style that I much prefer when it comes to my everyday purse.

This Spring season will be sporting a lot off puffed sleeves as evident to all the one's I've been seeing coming down the runway. New York Fashion Week Day 4: Street Style

Not all the great fashion looks are found on the runway. Sometimes, by simply moving the camera away from the catwalk, you can discover some true fashion in action. Here are a few looks that were spotted on the streets along with their handmade counterparts.

Chevrons, a classic pattern that goes the distance. I like the simple stripe pattern of this one.

Here is a long sleeve variation that can easily be modified.

Speaking of stripes, here are some bottom that are sure to get some attention. Sort of reminds me of the stripe pattern found on some snakes.

Here is a short crocheted version. You could make it longer if you prefer more coverage, or keep it short and add some solid leggings as shown. Striped bottoms work best with a solid colored top.

Ah, yes, the granny square mini skirt. I'm really tempted to crochet the vest above. I love the colors and it doesn't look like it would be too hard to construct. The collar and pockets? I'd either crochet or knit those separately and attach them later.

New York Fashion Week Day 3: Seeing the World In Black and White

Black, white and loved all over. I enjoyed the fresh take on the color basics. Who ever said that black and white are boring, need only look at what's been going down the runway for spring. A more lively and fun approach to the simple combination is what gives it the youthful look rather then the look of a waitress in uniform.

I found these tow patterns that really put the runway on your needles. Now, don't be afraid to try a corset just because you don't have an hour-glass figure. I'm a plump size 14 and trust me when I say I look damn good in a corset. If you don't believe me, ask my hubby. ;-) Go ahead, make one and see if you don't feel just a little bit sexier when you slip one on.

New York Fashion Week Day 1: Fit To Be Tied

Well Day 1 of the Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week is now history.  Going through the images of today's shows a certain little something kept catching my eye. It was a bit unexpected of what I thought would be my first fashion post of the week, but I think when you see it, you'll understand.

So did you notice it? Did it make you stop and look the same way I did? No, not the suites. It's the ties that caught my attention. I love them. I'm not really a tie kind of girl, but I think the striping and the color combination is what got me. Here are a couple of offerings for you to work with- one knitted, the other crocheted.

Fashion Week starts this week. It is the official beginning of what is now being known as Fashion Month.

The Front Row Posse

From New York to Paris, all the jet-setters and socialites will be lining the coveted front rows. And if luck be a lady, many designers will be lining their pockets as retail orders come in for their new designs.

Great way t hide Kanye West. Not!

The A-listers all the way down to the D-listers will be doing their best to pretend that they don't want to get their pictures taken.

Umm. Okay.

And crazy people with even crazier outfits will fill the tents and streets. Insanity will reign for a whole month as every teenage girl with way too much of daddy's money will try to rush out to get whatever is the newest 'it' thing for the season.

Nearby drug stores will see an increase in sales of 5-hour energy drinks, breath mints and Jack Daniels. And with all the ladies running around in 6-inch heels, Dr. Scholls will have some of their best sells profits of the year. Yes, the Woodstock of the fashion world is once again upon us.

But don't worry, I'll be right here at home watching all the action safely from my laptop. I'll be drinking my Lady Grey tea, snuggled under my electric blanket while sifting through all the fashion fluff in order to find those cute items that you can't wait to knit.
